OUR INSPIRATION

Andersen's Buddy Backpacks is in honor of Andersen Gruhlkey. Andersen passed away in 2019 at the young age of 25. He was born with a congenital heart defect, but this didn’t stop him. He was an amazing young man who left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Andersen had the kindest heart of anyone. He was always thinking of others and blessing them with his contagious smile and acts of kindness.  He didn’t know a stranger and radiated JOY everywhere he went. He showed others the love of Jesus. His legacy is impacting our county with every bag delivered.

OUR MISSION

Andersen’s Buddy Backpacks is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization created to help with food insecurities during the school year for the students within our county. Bags of food items are placed in a student’s locker at the end of each week in a discrete manner. Our goal is to provide nutrient-rich food items that will help ease hunger on the weekend until the students can get back to school.
